Audrey Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carr Funeral Home on Jan. 26, 2026.
Audrey Nash Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, and wife, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on May 14, 1937, Audrey lived a life rooted in hard work, devotion to family, and a quiet joy in life's simple and beautiful things. She was quick witted, funny, and unapologetically herself.

Audrey was the proud mother of her dearly loved daughter Patsy Nash Russell of Guntersville, Alabama. Her greatest pride in life was her family, especially her two grandchildren, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally, Christopher Russell (Rachel) of Horton, AL and Amanda Russell Coolidge (Kris) of Guntersville, AL.

Audrey met her devoted husband of 50 years, Paul Williams, on October 5, 1975 and together they embarked on a life defined by love, partnership, and perseverance. Side by side, they built a successful accounting business, and managed their farm and multiple rental homes-all of which was testament to their shared dedication and work ethic.

Outside of family and business, Audrey was a familiar and welcoming presence behind the counter at The Jewel Box in Albertville, where she worked for many years and formed lasting friendships. She had a love for animals, a sharp appreciation for a good joke, and a fondness for the finer things-especially diamonds, and fine china and furnishings. Nonetheless, she cherished the simple things like a good cup of coffee, digging in the dirt to plant flowers, or just sharing a good laugh with those she loved. Though her family is heartbroken by her loss, they remain strong, guided by her influence and the memories she leaves behind.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Dunn and Stella Allen Dunn and her siblings: SJ Dunn, Vernon Dunn, Doris Thomas, Wayne Dunn, and Viva Roberson. Her loving sister, Viva, passed only two days before Audrey and was no doubt the first to welcome her home. Audrey is also preceded in death by her niece, Tyra Thomas. Finally, Audrey was preceded in death by her great-grandsons, Jaxon Lee and Landon Lee Russell, whom she never had the chance to meet in this life but is surely reunited with today.

Audrey is also fondly remembered by James Kirby, Christopher Jackson, and Kevin Brain, cherished chosen-family for more than 20 years.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her private caregivers-Hannah, Susie, and Nicole-whose compassion and dedication made Audrey's final years comfortable and allowed her family the priceless gift of simply being present as loved ones. The family is also deeply thankful for the exceptional care provided by Shepherd's Cove Hospice. The care, guidance, and compassion of these caregivers will never be forgotten.

Audrey will be remembered for her strength, her humor, her love of beauty, and the deep devotion she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished.

Services will be held at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville, AL. The family will welcome friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Audrey will lay in repose from 10a-11a on Thursday, January 29, 2026, with a service officiated by Omer Holcombe beginning at 11am. There will be a brief graveside prayer at Forest Home Cemetery in Boaz, AL following the service. Pallbearers will be Omer Holcombe, Thomas Williams, Clarence Hopper, Kevin Brain, and honored friends.
