August F. Knierman

August Frederick Knierman, 86, died Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital. Born June 26, 1939, at Spencer Hospital in Meadville, PA he was the youngest child and only son of Paul F. and Louise (Bodisch) Knierman.
Raised in Linesville, PA, he attended Gannon College in Erie, PA and received a degree in electrical engineering. After serving in the US Army, Gus began a career as an engineer, eventually working for GTE/Verizon in Erie for many years.
He was a member of St. George Parish, a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Cursillo, and a life member of St Marks Seminary Auxiliary. He was a life member of IEEE, and the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. He volunteered for many organizations in the area including the Red Cross, Math Counts, and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Mr. Fix-it to many organizations and people.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Shirley (Cash), children Paul (Deborah), Michael (Joy), Patrick, and Karen (Patrick), 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons (and one on the way), sisters Pauline Baker, Marjorie Kline, and Gladys Mickle, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Gertrude Baughman, Betty Agnew, Katherine Mattis, Shirley Vogan, and Dorothy Poux.
Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St., on Monday 12/1 from 3 to 7 p.m. and may attend a funeral mass on Tuesday 12/2 at 10:30 a.m. at St. George Church, 5145 Peach St. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. George Church.
