Robert Ross Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home in Austin/Round Rock on Feb. 18, 2026.
**In Loving Memory of Robert Anthony Ross June 12, 1935 – February 15, 2026**

We honor and celebrate the life of a man whose heart belonged first and always to Jesus Christ. His faith was the compass that guided his steps, shaped his character, and filled his days with purpose. He lived out his love for the Lord not only in words, but in the quiet, steady way he cared for others, served his community, and led his family with humility and grace.

Robert "Bob" Anthony Ross, 90, of Cedar Park, Texas, entered peacefully into the presence of his Lord after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Surrounded by the tender care of his family and Hospice, Bob's final years were a testament to perseverance, grace, and the extraordinary love that sustained him. "I have upheld you since you were conceived… Even when your hair has turned gray, I will carry you and save you." - Isaiah 46:3–4

Born in Kane, Pennsylvania, Bob was the eldest of five sons of Anthony and Frances Ross. Raised in the rolling hills of northwestern Pennsylvania - "God's country," as he fondly called it-he grew into a young man known for his cheerful spirit. His 1953 classmates voted him "Happy go lucky," a title he lived up to with humor and heart throughout his life. In 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Louise Canfield, beginning a 65 year partnership rooted in faith, devotion, and service.

Bob earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from Gannon College in 1959, launching a distinguished career that took him from General Electric to IBM. His work contributed to the guidance systems on Naval submarines and the computer systems used in the Saturn V rockets-an achievement that allowed him and Jackie to witness a historic launch in person. Through every relocation-from Pennsylvania to Connecticut, New York, Virginia, Vermont, and finally Texas-Bob and Jackie built a home defined by hospitality, generosity, and unwavering commitment to their church and community. "Whenever you are able, do good to people who need help." - Proverbs 3:27

Above all, Bob was a man who cherished his family. He delighted in gathering loved ones around the table, where laughter, stories, and gratitude flowed freely. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren knew him as a steady, compassionate presence-one who encouraged, supported, and loved without limits. His life embodied the truth of Romans 8:28: "We know that God causes all things to work together for good for those who love Him."

Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline, parents, Anthony and Frances, and his brothers Jack and Phillip. He is survived by his children Robert Jr. (Lisa), Michael (Diane), Cathleen Paine (Richard), and Doreen Dutton (Michael); his grandchildren DJ Dutton (Stacy), Robert Paine (Rachel), Charles Paine, Robert Ross III, Michael Ross Jr. (Isabelle), Katrina Payea (Scott), Amber Ansley (Carlos), Kaitlyn Ross, Jessamyn Reynolds (Brent), Danielle Ross (Nick), and Heather Dutton Cole (Shane); and thirteen great grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy.

Though his absence leaves a deep ache, those who loved him rejoice in his eternal homecoming. Bob lived as a devoted Catholic, a faithful servant, and a grateful child of God. His life radiated the spirit of 1 Thessalonians 5:18: "Give thanks in all circumstances." Now he rests in the promise of Revelation 21:4: "He will wipe away every tear… and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain."

Bob's legacy is one of love, service, faith, and family- a life well lived and a race well run. May his memory continue to bless all who were privileged to know him.
