Duane F. Carr, age 95, of Erie passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. He was born September 23, 1930 in Shilo, PA the son of the late Bernard and Elmira (Fishburn) Carr.
Duane was a graduate of Clearfield High School and attended Gannon College. He had served with the US Navy as a Seabee during the Korean war and was retired as a foreman with PennDOT. Duane was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was a member for over 35 years with the Billy Simpson VFW Post 470 and the Millcreek American Legion Post 773 . A proud veteran, he was known to line his neighborhood streets with American Flags on special holidays. He also enjoyed spending time in his garden, but his most special moments were spent with his family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (Bowman) Carr; a daughter, Penny McCray; and a son-in-law, Alan “Shep” Lang.
Duane is survived by his two daughters, Susan Lang (Denny Collins) of Erie and Cindy Rugare (Bob) of Duluth, GA. He is the proud grandfather of Karen Duncan (David), Kelly Therieau (Gregg), Alana Sorenson (Dennis), Kara Lang (Mike Hain), Aaron Bost, and Mandy Learn (Joshua). Also surviving are 9 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services Inc., West Ridge, 3801 W.26th St. on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Tuesday at 10:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
