Odette P. Sperry, age 102, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026, at Manchester Commons.

She was born October 14, 1923, in France, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Blanche (Perrin) Vedie.

Odette worked as a seamstress at Trasks and Carlisle’s and the Boston Store, in Erie for many years. She also operated her own independent sewing business. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, but most of all loved spending time with family and friends and would do anything for them. She was a longtime member of the Elmwood Presbyterian Church, spending many Sundays helping in the nursery there. She was a strong, loving person with lots of character and a big heart. Her husband was her love and her life, her happiest moment in life was marrying David Sperry in January of 1948 in Waterford, PA. Odette wanted to be remembered for doing the best that she could given her amazing journey from World War II, France to the United States. She loved traveling to France every year to visit family.

In addition to her parents, is preceded in death by her husband, W. David Sperry; nine siblings, Renee, Yvonne, Marguerite, Francine, Marius, Paul, Andre, Dede, Therese, and Roger; nephew Peter Kemling; brother-in-law, Howard and his wife Jessie Sperry; sister-in-law, Edith and her husband, Milton Burger; brother-in-law, Richard Sperry; as well as close friend, Monique.

Odette is survived by a sister, Paulette; her niece, Janet Kemling; great niece, Amy (Mike) Mitchell, and their children, Megan and Jacob; great nephew, Matthew (Peggy) Kemling, and their daughter, Karlie; niece, Lynn (Philppe) Ansot, and daughter, Cindy; nephew, Jim Sperry and his family; as well as friends, Dorothy and Kathy.

The family of Odette would like to specially thank her “family” at Manchester Commons who took extraordinary care of Odette during her stay there, as well as her special friend, Nellie.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 3801 W. 26th St., Erie on Saturday, February 7th, from 11 AM until the time of service there at Noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elmwood Presbyterian Church, 2816 Elmwood Ave., Erie, PA 16508.
