August McWilliams Jr., a beloved figure known for his hearty spirit and passion for life's simple pleasures, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 94 in Temple, Texas. Born on December 25, 1931, in Pecos, Texas, August lived a life filled with dedication, warmth, and humor.
August's professional journey was marked by his skilled work as a welder at Dryess Manufacturing in Winters, Texas, where he applied his remarkable talents and hands-on craftsmanship. He also had a profound love for woodworking, creating cherished pieces that reflected his creativity and attention to detail.
In addition to his vocational pursuits, August proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves, exemplifying his commitment to his country. His strong values and work ethic were at the core of everything he did, shaping his character as a loving spouse and friend.
A person of infectious humor, August delighted in making those around him smile with his playful jokes and engaging personality. He found joy in his hobbies, particularly riding motorcycles and listening to country and gospel music, which filled his days with adventure and melody.
August is greatly missed by his beloved spouse, Doris Ann McWilliams, who cherished their life together. His spirit continues to resonate with many friends, including Amanda and James Biddy, Chelsea Nunes, and Chaney Bahlman, who held him close to their hearts.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and August McWilliams Sr., and his brother, James Lee McWilliams, both of whom he remembered fondly throughout his life.
The family and friends of August McWilliams Jr. extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Mercy House Assisted Living for their compassionate care during his final month.
Though he has departed from this world, August’s legacy of love, laughter, and craftsmanship will forever warm the hearts of those who knew him.
