Aura Maria Velez Silva, born on April 19, 1932, in Barranquilla, Colombia, to her parents Enrique Antonio Vélez Fernandez and Julia Elena Silva Molino. Aura passed away on August 21, 2023, in West Jordan, Utah. She was a cherished individual who touched the lives of many.

Aura had a deep passion for crocheting, cooking, and most importantly, loving others. She found joy in creating beautiful crochet pieces and preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. Her caring nature was evident through her selfless acts of kindness towards others. Aura remained ready and willing to love and serve those around her throughout her life. She enjoyed working with her husband as a legal assistant.  In her continuing effort to improve herself, she was learning all the questions and knew the answers to all the U.S. citizenship test. 

As a mother, Aura was an exceptional role model for her children. She exemplified dedication and unconditional love within her family. She will be lovingly remembered as a counselor, sister, and family leader. Aura's presence acted as the glue that bound the family together, providing strength and support during both joyful and challenging times. In addition to being an exceptional mother and sister figure for her family members, Aura was admired by all who knew her as "Mi Tata bella." She possessed a radiant spirit that touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.

Aura's memory will be cherished by her children: Alicia, Sarah, Lourdes, Helena, Luis, Teresa and their familes. Each of them carries within them the lessons she imparted and the love she showered upon them. Her loss is mourned deeply by her sisters Hilda and Beatriz.

A viewing service will take place on August 23rd from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at City View Memoriam located at 1001 East 11th Avenue in Salt Lake City, Utah. Another viewing service is scheduled for August 24th from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Maple 3rd Ward situated at 8137 Echo View Dr in West Jordan, Utah. The funeral service will follow immediately after at the same location, starting at 11:00 AM and concluding at 12:30 PM.  Aura will be interred Friday, August 25, 2023 in the Providence, Utah Cemetery, 925 River Heights Blvd River Heights, UT 84321.
Aura Maria Velez Silva's unwavering love and caring spirit will continue to resonate with all who knew her. She will be remembered as "Mi Tata bella" and her legacy of compassion and devotion will live on in our hearts forever. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
