Our beloved Aurora Limas, of Elgin, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on November 5th, 2025 surrounded by love. She was a devoted widow, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, whose life of love, faith, and resilience touched all who knew her.
Aurora was born on March 17, 1941, to Andres and Isabel Borrego of Temple, Texas. As a young woman, she made her home in Elgin with her two daughters, Susie and Mary. It was there that she met the love of her life, Joe Limas. On December 31, 1966, Joe and Aurora were married, surrounded by their family and friends.
After more than 30 years of dedicated service at the University of Texas in the Department of Custodial Services, Aurora retired, though she never stopped working hard for the people she loved most. Her true joy was found at home, surrounded by her family—laughing, sharing stories, and cooking meals that brought everyone together. Those moments, filled with love and togetherness, as well as the quiet peace of caring for her plants were where her heart truly lived. Aurora’s legacy is one of hard work, steadfast resilience, and a determination that never wavered, no matter the challenge. She faced every challenge with courage and faith. As a member of Turning Point Fellowship Church in Manor, Texas, Aurora lived her life guided by her deep faith in God.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Limas of Elgin, Texas; her son, Jay Limas, and his wife, Jennifer Limas, of Pflugerville, Texas, as well as her siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and countless loved ones. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Limas, and her daughters, Mary Martinez and Susie Ybarra, both of Elgin,Texas.
