Aurora Serra

Aurora Serra, age 86, formerly of Redford, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 27, 2023 in Northville, MI.
She was born in Vallemaio, Italy, January 7, 1937, the daughter of the late Maria DiMambro and Michael Acacia.
Aurora came to the United States at 19. She and Italo were married in Italy and came here as soon to be parents of their first child of 4. They traveled together on the Christopher Columbus. She brought with her a love of cooking and making wine, sausage and prosciutto. She loved sharing all of her creations with everyone, not only her family. Aurora also had a love for bingo, planting flowers and gardening, her home always had a full, fresh garden every year. She was very active throughout her life, keeping busy as a volunteer at St. Priscilla or just walking and staying in shape. She will be best remembered as a loving nurturing person, she loved her family, especially her grandkids and watching them grow up.
Aurora is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Italo.
She is the cherished Mom of Michelina "Micky" Serra, Rita Serra, Anthony Serra (Yolanda) and Roseann Beally (Jim); beloved Nonna of Michael, Adam, Ava, Jason, Samantha, Luke, Jacob and Alexandra and loving Nonnie to 4; dearest sister of the late Alba Acacia.
The Serra family will greet friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, May 31 4-8 pm and Thursday, June 1, 2-8 pm. A rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 7 pm.
A funeral Mass celebrating Aurora's life will be held Friday, June 2, 10 am (in state 9:30 am), St. Priscilla Catholic Church, 19120 Purlingbrook Rd, Livonia.
Immediately following Mass a funeral procession will take Aurora to her place of rest next to her husband at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.
