Austin James D'Mello, 89, of Round Rock, Texas passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, surrounded by his wife, Indra, and his children and grandchildren.

He was born in Bombay, India, on November 1, 1935, to Joseph and Mary D'Mello. He attended St. Stanislaus High School and St. Xavier's (now College), in Mumbai. After a whirlwind romance, Austin married the love of his life, Indra, in 1963. They immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1980s with their three children, and Austin worked at AT&T and later Abbott Laboratories. He was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. William Catholic Church.

Austin always enjoyed meeting new people, eating good food, and learning about different cultures. He spoke many languages fluently, and he was particularly fond of telling stories from his long and interesting life, including about bodybuilding, boxing, and his travel escapades. Most importantly, he was a loving and doting grandfather.

Austin is survived by his wife, Indra; his three children, Blaise D'Mello (Selma), Anita D'Mello (Scott McDonald), and Aman D'Mello (Mark Malaspina); and his five grandchildren: Sean McDonald, Andrea D'Mello, Eliana McDonald, Sofia Malaspina, and Deven Malaspina. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Austin was preceded in death by his parents and his four siblings: Rev. Jim, Irene, Leslie, and Melville.

The Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at St. William Catholic Church in Round Rock. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at at 10:00am. The family invites you to join them for a reception, following the Mass in the Parish Hall.

Austin will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery, Georgetown, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Sacred Heart Community Clinic (SHCC) in Round Rock, TX. SHCC provides outpatient health services to the medically underserved residents of the Williamson County area.
