AUSTIN ASHLEY "SHORTY" EDWARDS

Austin Ashley "Shorty" Edwards, 76, passed away at McLeod Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 after an illness. The family will hold a private service at a later date.

Mr. Edwards was born in Mullins, a son of the late Thomas L. Edwards, Sr. and Sarah A. Edwards. He is also preceded in death by a grandson, Brett Thompson. He was a 1967 graduate of Rains-Centenary High School. Mr. Edwards was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Army. He was retired from Southeastern Freightlines. Mr. Edwards enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his former wife, Joyce Edwards; his children, Kelly Morehouse (Chris) and Ashley Thompson (David); brothers Thomas L. Edwards, Jr. and Glyn Edwards (Diane); grandchildren: Jordan Bryant, Elijah Morehouse and Percy Thompson; great grandchildren: Sarah Thompson, Raylynn Champion and Issabelle Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association (Alz.org), 140 Stoneridge Drive, #640, Columbia, SC 29210.
