SANFORD-Austin Gary Ham, 28, of Sanford, died on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at his home.
He was born in Biddeford on October 11, 1995 and was the hilarious handful/ only child of Jason R. Ham and Heidi L. Demers. He grew up in Sanford and graduated from Sanford High School.
Austin learned to operate all types of machinery while working with his father, and he had several jobs over the years operating heavy equipment, most recently with J.A. Simpson Inc. Austin would unwind with a ride on his motorcycle or by driving junkers through some mud.
Austin loved everything about Chevy Trucks, owning and working on several, including some square bodies–the older the better. He was even known to burn a little rubber in his trucks while cranking tunes and singing off key. Additionally, he liked snowboarding and spending time with his dogs, Lexi and Levi, and hanging out and raising h*ll with his countless friends.
Austin is predeceased by his fiancé, Desserrae Dutil, who also passed this year, as well as his maternal grandparents, Alan and Jackie Demers.
He is survived by his parents, Jason and Heidi, his paternal grandparents, Gary and Nancy Ham of Sanford, and his cousins, Jodi, Abbi, Alan-Michael, Brooke, Micah, Kylar, and Kelty.
A time to remember Austin will be held at the Carll, Heald and Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Sanford on Friday January 5 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. There will be an informal service when memories, no matter how ridiculous, can be shared at 5:00 pm.
