Austin Chase Mooney went to be with the Lord on November 7th, 2025 at OSU Wexner Medical Center at the age of 30 surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Austin was born on January 10, 1995 in Columbus, Ohio to Steven and Lisa (Scuka) Mooney. He graduated from Dublin Scioto High School in 2013 and got his pastoral degree from Ohio Christian University in 2016.
Austin was known for his love of Jesus. Throughout his life, he had many health issues that accumulated into a double lung and heart transplant in 2020. In every health obstacle he faced, his faith has always been his rock. Austin was called to ministry and enjoyed his job at Cypress Church Grove City. Austin loved telling people about Jesus and led many people to Christ.
Austin married his wife Larisa (Barton) Mooney on July 20, 2019. Together, they had two children: Judah Chase and Claire Raynea. Austin adored his children and loved parenting together with Larisa. They loved trips to the park, the zoo and simply spending time as a family. Austin was known for his love of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Chicago Bears and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Most weekends at the Mooney house were spent watching sports together.
