Austin Slagle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home South on Nov. 7, 2024.
Austin Lee Slagle Jr, age 73, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on November 6, 2024, at Springfield Villa. Lee was born to Austin Slagle and Mary Slagle on September 11, 1951 in Springfield, MO. He was raised in Willard, MO and graduated from Willard High School in 1969. Lee met Marie Gall in 1980 and married in 1981 and were blessed with one daughter, Rachael.
Lee was employed as a dispatch manager with RBX Transportation Inc. When not working, he had many interests and pastimes including bowling, boating at the lake, playing poker with his friends on Friday nights, cycling and was huge sports fanatic especially for the San Francisco 49ers and New York Yankees and of course let us not forget the ST. LOUIS CARDINALS! Nothing, however, brought him more fulfillment than spending time with his daughter, Rachael and helping her train for softball. Lee will be remembered as a great father, good husband and friend. He was often described by others as having a big heart and generous soul.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter Rachael Slagle and wife, Lori and daughter Chanel Coates, his cousin, Carol Adkins and husband Ralph, and his Aunt, Bonnie Slagle.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00 p.m. and burial will follow at Robberson Prairie Cemetery. The family asks that attendees wear anything red or St. Louis Cardinals attire in honor of Lee.
