The world became a lot dimmer on January 13, 2025, as Autumn Ray Mercado—a beloved daughter, sister, and mother—was taken from us too soon. Born on November 22, 1985, Autumn graced her 39 years on this earth with a boundless energy, a radiant smile, and a heart full of love.
Autumn’s zest for life was evident from an early age, especially on the gymnastics floor. A fierce competitor, she collected countless first-place trophies and top all-around wins, showcasing her remarkable determination and drive. Her love for the sport and her grit left an impression on everyone who watched her compete.
After retiring her leotard, Autumn focused her energy on new dreams. A graduate of the University of Utah, she found her true calling in nursing. Her work at the Huntsman Cancer Institute was more than a job—it was a mission. Known for her compassionate care, sharp intellect, and unwavering dedication, Autumn touched countless lives, bringing comfort and hope to patients and colleagues alike. She later took her expertise to Molina Healthcare, where she thrived as a Nurse Transition of Care Life Coach, helping others navigate their health journeys. Ever ambitious, Autumn was working toward becoming a nurse practitioner, a goal we know she would have achieved with her characteristic determination and grace.
Yet, if you asked Autumn what her greatest accomplishments were, she wouldn’t mention medals or degrees. She would tell you it was her three beautiful children, the center of her universe. They were her pride, her joy, and her legacy. Autumn’s unwavering love, kindness, and resilience live on through them.
Autumn had a rare gift for making everyone feel valued and loved. Whether you were a patient, a friend, or a family member, she had a way of brightening your day with her infectious giggle and warm presence. Her hugs were big and comforting, her personality was magnetic, and her love was palpable. To be loved by Autumn was to experience something truly special—a light we will forever miss.
A celebration of Autumn’s incredible life will be held on Friday, January 24th, 2025, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. The day will begin with a viewing at 10:00 AM, followed by the rosary at 10:30 AM and the funeral mass at 11:00 AM. After the mass, a graveside service will take place at Memorial Redwood Cemetery. Following the burial, the family invites all who loved Autumn to return to St. Martin de Porres for a celebration of life luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the GoFundMe established in Autumn’s name, which will support her children as they rebuild their lives. https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://gofund.me/75fc9400__;!!L77oFdcXU102vQ!j04tttm9cY6EWsuzYM82lGWJLpzOjw2_6X961f7QdaEAbDG5uGf3IDFlXvKBctqdzijsvpY1N7gB-podspntEf7RjczawjEl$
Autumn, we miss you more than words can express. Your laughter, your love, and your light will remain forever in our hearts. Thank you to all who have supported us in loving and remembering her and in caring for her precious children.
