Avery Kopec Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 6, 2026.
Avery Foster Kopec, age 27, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026. Avery had a caring heart, embraced life and created friendships everywhere he went.

Avery, a son of Jennifer Bosworth and Craig Bosworth, was born April 21, 1998, in Cincinnati, Ohio, is survived by his brother, Aiden Kopec, his father David Kopec, the Palmer Family (Julie, Brad, McKenzie & Madison), the Young Family (Jim, Peggy, Nick), along with loving group of family and friends. Avery and Aiden were lifetime best friends.

The family moved often throughout Avery's life, relocating from Cincinnati, OH to Milwaukee, WI, Parkville, MO, Naperville, IL and then back to Cincinnati. Along the way, Avery created lasting friendships, illustrating his ability to meet new people and welcome new experiences.

Avery graduated from Waubonsie Valley High School in Naperville, IL in the spring of 2016, participating in multiple sports activities including lacrosse and football.

He attended The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce & Business Administration in August 2020.

While at Alabama, Avery joined the Phi Delta Theta Alabama Alpha chapter where he excelled in creating deep relationships with his fraternity brothers, relationships that have endured and grown following his graduation. He expanded his love of music, embracing the warmth of a Southern lifestyle with simple and important values. Cowboy boots, his pickup truck, and country music.

After college, he joined the United States Army, completing the Army's Advanced Infantry Battalion curriculum at Fort Benning, GA, and then was assigned to the Army's Tenth Mountain Division located at Fort Polk, LA.

Avery was deployed to Europe in 2024 to lead a six-member reconnaissance team participating in operation Combined Resolve at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany. As Team Leader, he executed missions in Poland, Armenia and Romania, and was tasked to improve relations with Armenian Forces in joint training exercise Eagle Partner.

Upon his return in the Summer of 2025, he was assigned as Battalion Schools NCO, supervising processes and coordinating with brigade and installation offices at Fort Polk.

Avery proudly served his country for 5 years, rising to rank of Sergeant (E5), earning numerous medals and challenge coins.

Avery wore his heart on his sleeve. He offered help to friends and family any time, any place. Those in his circle knew how he felt, where they stood with him, and the fullness of the love in his heart.

Visitation and Funeral service times will be updated when final arrangements are completed.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to either The Gary Sinise Foundation or The Wounded Warrior Project, in honor of Avery F Kopec.
