Todd Kopec Obituary

ALLEGANY - Todd R. Kopec, 63, of Allegany, passed away Monday (Dec. 29, 2025) at home.

Born Aug. 7, 1962, in Olean, he was the son of Raymond and Janet Shick Kopec. On July 31, 1999, at St. Patrick's Church in Glen Cove, Long Island, he married Laura J. Pirone, who survives.

Todd was a 1980 graduate of Allegany Central School and graduated with an associate's degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

He worked for many years as a graphic designer at Studio 4 East in Allegany.

After the birth of his first daughter Alena, he immersed himself in life as a dad and formed a special bond with both of his daughters. Their memories with him include walks to the Sonshine Nursery School, following their accomplishments throughout their school years, backyard camping with s'mores and a family trip to Disney World.

He always loved to draw and sketch, and the night sky fascinated him. Celestial events including the moon and stars were of special interest, and he liked to share that with his family. He was also a Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed spending time with his close group of friends.

He leaves behind his wife, Laura; two daughters, Alena Kopec and Stephanie Kopec; one brother, Dana (Robin) Kopec of Hoschton, Ga.; a nephew, Cory Kopec; two aunts, Linda Shick of Smethport, Pa. and Janice Roulo of Portville; cousins; and his wife's extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Martin Kopec.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 4, 2026) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean. Services will begin at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. D'yvonne Portlow.

Memorials may be made to the Cattaraugus County SPCA, 2944 Route 16, Olean, NY 14760.

Laura, Alena and Stephanie, and Dana, you are in our thoughts and we are deeply sorry for your loss.

I am forever grateful for Todd's friendship. He was so welcoming to his friends. When I think of Allegany, I think of Todd, and fondly remember the countless good times over the decades. The laughter, the music, the social gatherings with my brother Jeff, his brothers Dana and Marty, Renee, the Gilroy Brothers, Lou, and so many others in Todd's orbit. At his places on Main St and 4th St., he provided a space for people to join together - what an important thing. Lifelong friendships were formed, couples met, Bills games were watched, and conversations were had, all punctuated by booming laughter. Todd was at the center of it all.

Todd was also an amazing artist, and his exceptional contributions and work at Studio 4 East are remembered, as well.

Our hearts go out to Todd's immediate family and all his friends at this time.

Todd, my unforgettable friend, it was a privilege to know you.
