Avester Ginger Obituary
Arvester was born January 21, 1933, to Hampton Ginger Sr. and Sadie (Matthews) Ginger in Augusta, Arkansas. At a young age his family relocated to Neelyville, Missouri where he became a member and was baptized at the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. In Neelyville, he attended Washington Elementary School. He later attended Wheatley High School in Popular Bluff, MO. In 1950 he enlisted in the US Army.
Arvester served in the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 5 bronze stars and the United Nations Korean Service Medal. After his tour of duty in Korea, he returned to the USA and married the love of his life, LV Young. To that union was born a son, Larry Joe, a daughter, Winter London, and a son, Tusane. He later switched branches of service and enlisted in the US Air Force. At the end of a 5-year enlistment, he and LV decided to relocate to Detroit, Michigan.
While in Detroit, Arvester pursued his desire to become a carpenter by completing his apprenticeship and becoming a journeyman carpenter. In the early 1980s he and LV relocated to Kansas City, MO where they became members of the Bible Temple Baptist Church.
Arvester is preceded in death by his parents, Hampton Sr. and Sadie; his brothers, Alvin; and Hampton Jr; his sister, Ernestine; son, Larry Joe; daughter, Vickie Roston; grandson, Tuvara; and great, Tuvon, and Joseph.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife LV; daughters, Winter London; and Elizabeth Crawford; son Tusane Sr.; 8 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; sister, Clara Hampton; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Bible Temple Baptist Church 2804 Hiawatha Street KCKS 66104. Interment: Brooking Cemetery. Visitation: 9 – 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapels. Condolences may be shared on our website lawrenceajones.com
