Babetta Woods Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 20, 2025.
Babetta "Babs" Woods passed away peacefully in her home on November 16th, 2025. Born in 1944 to Walter and Zelpha Behrendt. Babs was raised in Ohio before moving to Arizona in 1976.
In 1964, she married her soulmate, Joe Woods. They recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. They raised three children, Dawn, Joey, and Todd. Babs poured her heart into her family and her role of wife, mother, and grandmother. Nothing made her prouder than watching her grandchildren grow and flourish.
Grandma Babs was a passionate Phoenix Suns fan, however her true favorite teams were those in which her children or grandchildren participated. She was our best fan. Loyal, selfless, kind, and endlessly generous, Babs had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. She had an infectious smile that made everyone feel at home. She was our matriarch, the glue that held our family together,
Babs had a remarkable gift for growing her family. She welcomed cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, in-laws, and anyone she loved into her heart as they were her own. Through her kindness and inclusion, she created a wide circle of people who deeply loved her in return.
Babs is survived by her beloved husband Joe Woods. Her children, Dawn Woods (Mark Fallon), Joey Woods (Rebecca Verr), and Todd Woods (Cari Woods). Her grandchildren, Kyle Woods, Cole Woods, Makenna Woods (Cole Wojtak), Luke Verbalaitis (Alexandria Verbalaitis), Kaitlyn Woods, Adam Verbalaitis, and Chase Woods. Her sisters, Sally Behrendt, Kathy Bernhard (Dan Bernhard), and Shelly Gill (Bill Gill).
She was preceded in death by her loving parents Walter and Zelpha Behrendt, her brother Tommy Behrendt, her sister Linda Behrendt Strain, and her brother Steve Behrendt.
