Banner Ernest Shull, age 79, of Rome City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at his home. He was born on July 11, 1946, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Charles Milton and Jeannette Mae (Schermerhorn) Shull. Banner attended Wawaka High School graduating in 1965 and was involved with FFA, 4H, and sports. Banner operated Lake Ridge Orchards, worked for both West Noble (retiring from) and Westview School Corporations, and enjoyed operating heavy equipment. He genuinely enjoyed working outside whether it be driving a school bus or tending to trees-he was always tinkering with something.
On August 5, 1972, he married Cindy L. Musser, at Scott United Methodist Church Shipshewana, IN. They built a life together, sharing over 53 years (dad wanted 53 years to be noted).
Banner was a member of the coffee club and he frequently met with lifelong friends. Those that knew him would comment that he had never met a stranger, preferring to catch up with friends and family over all things above all else fishing; he would multitask by going with family and friends. Most of all he enjoyed connecting with people and sharing experiences both here and in Florida.
Banner is survived by: his loving wife, Cindy; four children, Andrew (Taira) Shull of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeffery Shull of Albion, IN, Ashleigh (Chris Shepherd) Shull of Wolcottville, IN, Ericka (companion Brad Bratton) Shull; six-grandchildren, Brenna (Michael) Guernsey, Cortlynn Shull, Amelia Shull, Nicole Leggett, Miles Shull and Mason Shull; mother-in-law, Marilyn Musser; brothers and sisters, Ruth Ann (Bahman) Parsapour, Brian (Laura) Shull, Caroline (David) North, Charles (Jayne) Shull, David (Denise) Shull, Melody (Elmer) Hochstetler, Deb (Chuck) Rahn, Pat (Duane) Frick, Joy (Clarence) Harter; and many other wonderful family and friends too numerous to mention.
He was preceded in death by: his parents Charles and Jeannette Shull; father-in law, George Musser; brother-in-law, Farrell Bennett; niece, Georgia Keller; two nephews, Nathan Shull and Todd Parsapour.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00AM to 3:00PM on Saturday, December 13, 2005, at Yeager Funeral Home. A Funeral service will follow at 3:00PM with Pastor Christopher White officiating. Per Banner’s wishes cremation rites will follow.
