Barb Klotz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home - Independence on Dec. 29, 2025.
"Oh and everything is not what it seems. This life is but a dream. Shatter illusions that hold your spirit down. Open up your heart and you'll find love all around."

--Sturgill Simpson

Barbara Ann Klotz, nee Richter, 70, passed away at home on December 26, 2025. Born in Cincinnati, OH, on February 18, 1955, she was the daughter of John Richter and Marian Tanner Richter.

Barb was the beloved wife of Gary Klotz; treasured mom to Eric (Melinda) George, Sara (Tyler) Hansen, and Alisha (Alejandro) Chávez; dear sister to Jackie (Victor) Palumbo and Joan (Frank) Heinrichs; as well as mamaw to 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Barb will be missed much by her extended family as well as her brand-new pup, Maggie. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Donna Leffler.

Raised in Independence, Barb attended St. Cecilia School and graduated from Simon Kenton High School in 1973. She retired from sales at Tri State Building Supply after over 30 years of dedicated service. Barb was a member of The Walton Sewing Club and as of late, would join other quilters and seamstresses at Walton Public Library to craft and create. Above all else-Barb's pride and joy were her grandkids. She loved deeply; cherishing precious time with family and friends. Her love will guide us every day. In sweet remembrances, in laughter, in all we do, we will carry her in our heart.

Barb will be cremated in a private ceremony and her urn will be laid to rest at a future date at the convenience of the family at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, KY.

Memorial donations may be made online in Barb's honor to Blood Cancer United (formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society).
