Frances Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Linnemann Funeral Home - Erlanger on Mar. 2, 2026.
Frances "Fran" L. Moore, 75, of Independence, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky.

Born on June 30, 1949, in Covington, Kentucky, Fran was raised in Walton by her loving parents, Melvin Utley and Wanda Yates (née Girdler), alongside her siblings, Doug and Sharon. Those early years shaped the warmth and kindness that would define her entire life.

To know Fran was to love her. She had a rare gift for connection - coworkers, neighbors, friends, and even strangers quickly found themselves drawn to her genuine heart. She never met a person she couldn't befriend. Even on her hardest days, she was far more concerned about how you were doing. If you needed help, encouragement, or simply someone to listen, Fran was there.

Family was the center of her world. She was a devoted homemaker while her daughters, Renee and Valerie, were growing up. It was a role she cherished deeply. Later, she started working with her father-in-law and later her husband at Nationwide Insurance and finally Gross Insurance. Her colleagues became lifelong friends, a testament to the relationships she nurtured so naturally for over 25 years.

Fran found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved reading, shopping, and the occasional well-earned nap. She adored her dogs, Mickey and Dolly, and treasured picnics and lunches at the park with her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, savoring a "nice lunch," great Italian food, barbecue, coffee, and, of course, ice cream. She was known for carrying a large purse - always stocked with little goodies and trinkets that somehow contained exactly what anyone might need.

A graduate of Simon Kenton High School, Fran lived out her Christian faith quietly but faithfully. Through kindness, generosity, and steadfast love.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Wally Moore; and her brother, Doug Utley.

She leaves behind a family who will miss her deeply: her daughters, Valerie (Boyce) Scruggs and Renee (Wesley) King; her sister, Sharon Greene; and her cherished grandchildren, Brad and Valerie King, and Brandon Scruggs. Her legacy of love, warmth, and compassion lives on in each of them.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Fran will be laid to rest at Richwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
