Barb Jean Serres

Barbara "Barb" Serres, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, at the age of 81. A cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Barb will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 3, 2025 at Rockwoods Event Center, 9100 Quaday Avenue NE, Otsego, MN with visitation starting at 12:00 pm until the time of service.

Barb was born on August 18, 1943, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to John and Gwendolyn Shea. After graduating from Glenwood High School in 1961, she moved to the Twin Cities. While living in the metro area, she met John Owen Serres and they were united in marriage in 1967. They made their home in Brooklyn Park, where they lived for many years and raised their family. She was known in the neighborhood as the "Avon Lady," a role through which she formed many friendships over the years. She and John enjoyed spending time with others-whether it was hosting their card club, participating in their bowling league, or enjoying camping trips with friends, especially the Annual Knights of Columbus Camporee. They loved spending time at their lake home in Aitkin and eventually made it their permanent home. Barb worked at the local drug store for several years before retiring.

Her appreciation for the things she learned in her high school home economics class as well as the sewing and crafting skills that she learned from her mother lead her to enjoy and be skilled in making a lot of craft items and gifts through the years. Barb also enjoyed reading, being on the lake, spending time with family and enjoying the simple things in life. She will be remembered for the love that she shared with her family, her sense of humor and the ability to communicate several different messages with "just a look." Memories of Barb will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter Alisa (Chad) Beery; son JD (Chrissy) Serres; grandchildren, Mitchel, Brittnee (Joe) and Ella; great-grandchildren Michele, Eliana, Micah, Elijah, Emma and Elliana; brothers Michael (Peggy) Shea and Stephen (Patty) Shea; sister-in-law Cheryl Shea; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband John Serres; infant son Stephen Michael, parents John and Gwendolyn Shea; brother John "JP" Shea and infant brother David.
