Michael Serres, a beloved family man, departed this life on March 2, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 72. Born on September 7, 1952, in Houston, Texas, he dedicated himself to his family with unwavering commitment.
For over 35 years, Michael enjoyed a successful career in the trucking industry, where he was self-employed and exemplified the values of hard work and perseverance. His dedication to service extended beyond the road; for 15 years, he served with honor as a fireman in the cities of Nederland and Port Neches, as well as dedicating 4 years of service to the Army Reserves. His contributions to public safety were marked by bravery and compassion, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers and community alike.
Michael's essence shone brightest in his role as a family man. His beloved wife, Helen "Chris" Serres, stood by him through all of life's journeys. Together, they raised two sons, Justin Serres and his wife Alysia, of Houston, Texas, and Devan Serres and his wife Keli, of Cape Coral, Florida. The love he showered upon his family was evident in the joy he took in being a father and the pride he felt as a grandfather. His grandchildren, Addison Serres, Harper Serres, Kaiden Stealey, Kylee Stealey, and Tatum Stealey Serres, were sources of immense joy for him, and he cherished every moment spent in their company.
Michael is also survived by his sister, Peggy Griffin, and her husband Mark, of Buna, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and a deep devotion to those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Joyce Serres, as well as his brother, Chris Edward Serres. Their memories will forever remain a part of Michael's story, as he carried their love in his heart throughout his life.
Visitation for Michael Serres will be held on March 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas, 77627. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate his life, sharing stories and memories that reflect the impact he had on all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to Michael Serres, we find solace in the love he imparted and the memories that will remain etched in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
