Barbara Lee Abel, 73 of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, formerly of Lake Ridge, Virginia passed away on December 21, 2025 at Lancaster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Bernard M. and Hazel (Taylor) Zeppenfeld. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Timothy R. Abel.
Barb lived a life defined by independence, creativity and quiet strength. Adventurous by nature, she spent decades boating and found great joy on the water. She was also an accomplished autocross driver, a gifted artist and proudly served her country through work with U.S. intelligence agencies.
She deeply loved her pets who were constant companions and a source of comfort and joy throughout her life. They were family to her and her devotion was unwavering.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
