Barbara Anne Alder

On Thursday, May 20, 2022 Barbara Anne (Van Pelt) Alder, departed this earthly life for the eternity of heaven. Devoted wife of 67 years of Willard Lee Alder. Loving mother of Jennifer (Danny) Burgess and Lisa (Michael) Albrecht. Caring sister of Michael Van Pelt and Tim (Amy) Van Pelt. Cherished grandmother of Ashley (Chris) Brosnan, Amy Albrecht and Alexandra Albrecht. Proud Great-grandmother of Chase and Cassadee. She is processed in death by her parents Catherine Van Pelt Jarboe and Robert Van Pelt, brother Bobby, sister and best friend Bonnie, and Baby daughter, Monica Rose. Barbara was born in Washington, DC and lived her life in Maryland, the last 28 years in Lusby. She was an example of love, generosity, and loyal friendship. She loved her family and made them a priority. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, road trips, time at the beach and chocolate! She loved animals and had a special place in her heart for birds. Friends may contact Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD for details. A visitation will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Historic Church, 50 Alexander Lane, Solomons, MD 20688, at 10:30 prior to the Mass of Christian Burial that begins at 11am. A private interment will take place the following day at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Washington, DC.
Following the Funeral, family and friends are invited to gather at the Chesapeake Ranch Estates Clubhouse at 500 Clubhouse Drive, Lusby, MD 20657.
