Samuel Ross Obituary
Samuel Ross, the youngest son of the late Abe Ross Sr. and Mary Lizzie Ross, was born on April 26, 1942, in Johnson County, Scott, Georgia. He was raised alongside seven siblings, all of whom preceded him in death: Abe (Betty) Ross Jr., James (Betty) Ross, Robert (Ann) Ross, Otis (Evelyn) Ross, and three sisters-Marie (Talmadge) Reese, Mary Ross, and Annie Ruth Reese.
Sam began his education at Royal Chapel Elementary School and later attended B.D. Perry High School. He completed his formal education at Northwestern High School in Washington, D.C., where he earned his certification as a Master Plumber. He dedicated many years of service to his profession, beginning his career with Fludd Plumbing and continuing to work as a master plumber well into retirement.
Sam was united in marriage to the love of his life, Celestine Ross. Together, they built a life and raised their family in Hyattsville, Maryland, before relocating to Dublin, Georgia upon retirement.
Sam had a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing-especially for catfish-cooking, gardening, and fixing just about anything that needed repair. Known for his strong will, warm heart, and infectious laughter, Sam was kind to everyone he met and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
A strong-willed and resilient life came to a peaceful close on Monday, February 2, 2026, when Samuel L. Ross, affectionately known as Sam, passed away at his home on Shady Lane. In addition to his parents and siblings, Sam was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Trisha Ross, and his son, Samuel Ross Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Celestine Ross; his sons, Frank (Michele) Willoby , Steven (Melissa) Willoby,and Dennis Ross, his daughters, Casey Willoby and Arleathy (Donnell) Haskins; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
