Barbara Jean Allen, 93, of Creston, formerly of Martensdale, Ia. died Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. Family Graveside Memorial Services will be Saturday October 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Montpelier Cemetery, in Patterson, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be left at powersfh.com.

Barbara Jean (Phillips) Allen, daughter to Gail and Opal (Wycoff) Phillips, was born on July 14, 1932, in Creston, Iowa. Barbara attended Creston grade school and graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines in 1950.

Barbara married Robert Alvin Allen on January 30, 1950, in West Des Moines. She was baptized in West Des Moines at the Methodist Church. Barbara and Robert were blessed to welcome their daughter, Sandy, and son Robert, Jr., to the family. Barbara was active in neighborhood coffee clubs and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, and gardening at her home.

Survivors include her six grandchildren, Christina (husband Rob) Crabb of Afton, Ia., Dawn Wright (Dave Murphy) of Winterset, Bobby Jo Stanley of Minnesota, Joe Allen of Indianola, Ia., Megan Allen of Indianola, Ia., and Bryan Allen of Truro, Ia.; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one great-great-grandson and two sisters-in-law Carol Phillips of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; and Karen Phillips of Waterloo, Ia.

Barbara was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Allen, in 2014; son Robert Allen, Jr., daughter Sandy (Merrill) Cornelison, a grandson Bobby Allen, a granddaughter Kelly Sims, and her two brothers, Richard and Galen Phillips.
