Richard Killmon,78, of Creston, died Monday, September 1, 2025, at his home in Creston. Celebration of Life Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Creston. Pastor Rick Titus will officiate the service. Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Cromwell, Ia. Open visitation will be 2-7:00 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends 5-7:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are kindly suggested to the family to be determined later. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.

Richard Allen Killmon, son of Vivian Loree (Clark) Killmon and Richard Dale Killmon, was born on November 28, 1946, in Creston, Iowa. He graduated from Creston High School in 1965.

Richard was united in marriage to Sharon Lynn Ogburn in Corning, Ia. on June 29, 1969. They settled in Creston. Richard began working at Wellman Dynamics as an X-Ray Technician verifying the quality of parts as they were being produced. Richard and his family moved to Afton in 1978, and he continued in that position until his retirement in 2010. Richard later moved to Creston to be near family in 2022.

Richard was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ and the Eagles Lodge in Creston, Ia. He also enjoyed hunting, particularly for pheasants in the fall and fishing. Richard enjoyed his many trips to Canada fishing and his trip to Lake Michigan fishing for salmon.

Richard is survived by his wife Sharon Killmon of Creston; two daughters, Shannon (husband Nick) Welch of Arispe, Ia. and Andrea (husband Bill) Baker of Creston, Ia.; a grandson Kiefer Welch; a granddaughter Jordan Leigh Killmon; a great-grandson Gabriel Ward; three great granddaughters and a sister Linda Wilson of Ankeny, Ia.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, an uncle Ned Killmon, granddaughter Kristen Hope, and a brother-in-law Steve Wilson.
