Barbara passed away in her home on September 12, 2025. She was born January 4, 1932 in New Haven Connecticut to Alden and Charlotte Smith. Married to Robert Anderson who passed away in 2006, she is survived by her son, Doug, his wife Janice and her daughter Valerie. Barbara is survived by six grandchildren; Blake, Alena, Paul, Andrew, Peter, Sarah and five great grandchildren, Maggie, Oliver, Sam, Ben, Mason.

Graduate of the University of Connecticut where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. Barbara served as the Director of the Department of Aging for Prince George's County. She was active in politics on both the local and national level. Barbara attended multiple Republican National Conventions, was a member of the Southern Prince George's Republican Club, served on the Republican Central Committee, managed and volunteered for candidates at all levels.

Barbara was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Upper Marlboro. Barbara was a member of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) International which supports women's education through scholarships, grants, and loans. Barbara was an avid sports fan, enjoyed going to Orioles games, rooting for the Wizards and the Redskins. Barbara loved attending bible study, reading mystery novels, eating crabs, playing bridge, and was very grateful to be able to play bridge online when she could no longer travel..

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 at Bethel United Methodist Church, followed by a service from 11:00 to 12:00. She will be buried with her husband Robert at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 16101 Swanson Road, Upper Marlboro. Maryland, 20772

Repass will be held at her.good friends Chuck and Natalie Summers starting at 2pm. Their address is 3820 Old Crain Hwy, Upper Marlboro MD 20772
