Barbara Ann Mock was born in Baskin, Louisiana on December 28, 1941, to Harry and Charlie Mock. She graduated from Baskin High School in 1959.
She married Mike Gusky of Shreveport, Louisiana on November 23, 1967.
The happy couple had two sons - John and Ian - who would later also marry and give Barbara two beautiful and brilliant granddaughters - Meredith and Mary Madeline.
Barbara also had cousins by the dozens, and enough nieces and nephews for two football teams.
Mike and Barbara spent some time in suburban Dallas, raising their two boys, before moving back to Franklin Parish to operate an aviation business.
Never satisfied staying in one place too long, Barbara and Mike moved to Baton Rouge, where Barbara went to work for the Secretary of State, serving Louisiana in the State Archives and Elections Division.
Barbara retired from public service in 2009.
For 16 years, Barbara worked in her flower beds, spoiled her three dogs, and kept her husband busy with a never-ending list of home projects.
Barbara got sick in mid-2025, and passed on to the next life on December 13, just before her 84th birthday.
In her time on this earth, Barbara created art, read thousands of books, shared her wisdom, laughed with us, and loved her family and friends.
Barbara joins a host of family members already in Heaven, including her dad Harry, her mom Charlie, and her younger brother Charles.
Along with her husband, two sons, and two granddaughters, Barbara is survived by a younger brother, Harry, Jr. and an older sister, Mary Alice, who love her and will miss her beyond words.
…as we all do and will.
Those who wish to honor Barbara’s life and legacy may contribute to the American Cancer Society…or to the animal shelter of their choice.
