Barbara Jane Baker

LYONS – Barbara J. Baker, age 92, of Lyons, passed away at her residence on Saturday, January 17, 2026, under the loving care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born in Ogden Center, MI on November 7, 1933, to the late Earl and Dora (Schafer) Simpkins. On August 21, 1950, Barb married Russell E. Baker in Angola, IN, and he preceded her in death on December 1, 1990. Barb held some waitressing jobs during her lifetime, but her main focus was being a housewife and mother. Barb loved her family and they were her pride and joy. She enjoyed sewing and baking for them and travelling with them. In her free time, she enjoyed garage sales and the occasional casino trip. She was a member of East Chesterfield Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rick (Linda) and Randy (Kelli) Baker, and Rebecca Donaldson; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sharon Schmidt, Betty Hall, and Beverly Cowell. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Wanda and Shirley; brothers, Maurice, Lanny, Arnold, and Ronald; and a son-in-law, James Donaldson.

Services for Barb will be private. Interment will be in Lyons Cemetery.
