Barbara Joan (Mathisen) McGill went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Carlisle Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on November 28, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York to her parents, Clarence and Marion (Linnhauser) Mathisen.
Barb graduated from SUNY Geneseo College in Geneseo New York with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She also had a Master’s Degree in Library Science that she achieved from C.W. Post College, Division of Long Island University. Barb was a Kindergarten Teacher and Librarian for 36 years for Bible Baptist School in Shiremanstown, Pennsylvania.
Barb is a long-standing member of Bible Baptist Church in Shiremanstown. She enjoyed singing in the choir, crocheting, and knitting. Barb made sweaters and gift baskets for the new mothers in the church. She was loved by all!
Barb is survived by her children: Kelly, Merideth, and Lori. Kelly is married to Donald Stevens, and they have 2 children, Daniel and Carrie. Daniel is married to Abby and they have blessed the family with a son, Grant, and a daughter, Davy. Carrie is married to Sam Krauter. Merideth is married to Steve Freeman, and she has a son, Chase. He is married to Maegan, and they have blessed the family with a daughter, Lilianna. Lori is married to Chris Sarago, and they have 3 children, Vaughn, Leana, and Lexi. In addition to her parents, Barb is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn, her brother- and sister-in-law, Jim and Joanne Ball, and her grandson, Colton.
A special thank you to the nursing team at the Carlisle Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care of Barb and assistance to her immediate family over this last year.
