Barbara Anne Bartko

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Anne Bartko.

On March 15, 2026, Barbara Anne Bartko, aged 88, of Hughesville, MD, and daughter of the late James and Gladys Baker, peacefully passed away at her home, surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born on March 23, 1937, in Grappenhall, England. At the age of 21, she met her future husband, John, who was serving in the Air Force at Burtonwood, England. Following their meeting, Barbara relocated to the United States and later became a U.S. citizen. After her immigration, she and John frequently enjoyed visiting friends and family, often making trips back to England. The couple married in 1959 and dedicated the next 67 years to nurturing and supporting their family at their cherished Lake View Farm in Hughesville, MD, and Ocala, FL.

Early in her life, she was a passionate swimmer, competing for her town in England. After moving to the United States, she embraced travel, participated in bowling leagues, and supported her daughters in equestrian sports, where she formed many lasting friendships.

Barbara is preceded in death by her daughter, Leslie Jane. She is survived by her husband, John; her daughters, Wendy Libert and Tracy Magness, along with her husband, Pat; granddaughter Brittany Hoffman and her husband, Jordan; great-granddaughter Ryder Jane; and sister Beryl Withers.

To honor Barbara's life, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
