Barbara Jean Baumgartner

Barbara Jean Baumgartner (formerly Kimmel), age 93, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Arbor Trace Nursing Home in Richmond, Indiana. Barbara was the daughter of Wayne and Ella Kimmel and was born on March 5, 1932, in La Porte, Indiana. She first met her husband of 65 years, Dick Baumgartner, in high school, where he was the class president and she served as the class secretary. Faith and family were central to Barbara's life. She was a faithful member of Community of Faith Church and an active participant in Bible Study Fellowship for many years, where she cherished both the study of Scripture and the fellowship of others, until her health no longer permitted. Barbara was gifted with many creative talents and took great pleasure in artistic pursuits. She enjoyed painting, sewing, knitting, and jewelry making. Her work was recognized with several awards over the years, a testament to her skill, creativity, and dedication. Survivors include her sons, Rick Baumgartner (wife, Pam) of Selma, Indiana, and Rhett Baumgartner (wife, Kelly) of Fishers, Indiana; and her daughter, Stacey Dils (husband, Jan) of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren, Tarah Graham (husband, Cory) of Prosper, Texas, Brice Baumgartner (wife, Brooke) of Van Alstyne, Texas, Lauren Gallagher (husband, Kraig) of Fishers, Indiana, Kiersten O'Hara (husband, Michael) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Austen Baumgartner (wife, Kyla) of Plainfield, Indiana, Ryan Baumgartner of Fortville, Indiana, Heather Honn (husband, Stephen) of Fortville, Indiana, and Ella Dingwerth (husband, Corey) of Richmond, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Blakely, and Bryant Baumgartner; Wesley and Hudson Graham; Olive Poitevint and Charlotte Baumgartner; Hudson and Grace Gallagher; Easton and Jaxton Baumgartner; Rhodes and Maeve O'Hara; and William Dingwerth; and her siblings, Vicki Roberts of La Porte, Indiana, Sherry Holzapfel of La Porte, Indiana, and Dick Kimmel of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Baumgartner; her parents; her sister, Karen Bunce; and her brother, Wayne Kimmel. A private service and burial were held on Monday, December 15, 2025. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Refuge of Hope, 1032 E. Main St., Richmond, Indiana 47374. Arrangements were handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
