Anton Baumgartner

Anton passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026 at the age of 94. Anton was a man who truly knew the value of hard work, whether he was on a fire engine, working on his upholstery, or at the golf course.

A retired Firefighter with the El Sobrante Fire Department, he spent years running toward the dangers that others ran from. When he wasn't at the station, Anton was a master of detail. He owned and operated a successful upholstery business. To his family, he was the ultimate "fixer"; he could find a solution to any problem. He loved playing cards, whether 31, or whist, or at the craps tables in Reno. He also loved visiting his brother's farm in South Dakota, playing golf, and the company of his golden retriever Shawnee.

Anton has gone home to be reunited with his beloved wife, Donelda, and his cherished daughter, Rebecca, who preceded him in death. We take comfort in imagining their joyful reunion. He is survived by his five children, 11 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. A celebration of a life well-lived will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 10:30am, PST at St. Joseph Cemetery & Funeral Center, 2540 Church Lane, San Pablo, CA 94806.
