Barbara Nadine Beeks, age 88, died Thursday, July 17, 2025, at her home in Hugoton, Kansas. She was born September 30, 1936, in Coldwater, Kansas, the daughter of Robert Lee and Claudine Riley (Calahan) Long.
Barbara grew up in Rolla and graduated from Rolla High School. On September 15, 2004, she married Garland E. Beeks at the Christian Church in Garden City. Barbara was a farm wife and homemaker for 43 years before moving to Hugoton. She later worked at House of Décor; Happiness Is and the Senior Center, where she formed many friendships. Barbara attended Bethel Friends Church.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Garland; children, Teresa C. Braymen of Hugoton, Ray Lee Kallenbach and wife Dana of Rolla, Darel G. Kallenbach and wife Susan of Church Point, Louisiana, and Barbara Ann Campbell of Rolla; brother, J.D. Long of Elko, Nevada; sister, Linda Long of Prosper, Texas; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Claudine Long; two brothers, Robert E. Long and Rodney D. Long; sister Patricia A. Long; grandson, Justin Craig Campbell; two great-grandsons, Matthew Shedrick and Brett Knisley; and son-in-law, Dennis Campbell.
A memorial service will be 2:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton with Pastor Chris Stanfield officiating. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society or E.F.M. (Evangelical Friends Missions) in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 920 E. 11th St., Hugoton, KS 67951. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com.
