Walter Francis Jordan, age 93, died Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Logan County Senior Living in Oakley, Kansas. He was born January 13, 1932, in Portales, New Mexico, the son of Oliver and Evie (Clevenger) Jordan.
Growing up, Walter lived in Jumbo, Oklahoma, Avoca, Texas, and at 18 years old moved to Lovington, New Mexico. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1952. After his honorable discharge he returned to New Mexico. He married Georgina Elaine Parsons on May 12, 1956. As a family they lived in New Mexico, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Texas and Kansas where Walter worked as a trained mechanic and farm hand for various farmers until his was 85 years old. He was a member of the Catholic faith. Walter will be remembered for the love and enjoyment he received from his family and his strong work ethic. He was a quiet man who enjoyed the outdoors and led a quiet life.
Walter is survived by his siblings, John and Neil; children, William Jordan and wife Becky of Oakley, Kansas, Ruthann Thrush and husband, Roy of Branson, Missouri, Holly Lashmet and wife Judy Bryant of Bartley, Nebraska, Georgina Lochrie and Mary Jordan both of Hugoton, Kansas; 13 wonderful grandchildren, Brandon Jordan, Beverly Weiss, Benjamin Jordan, Bryce Jordan, Heather McDaniel, Ashley Hampel, Christopher McDaniel, Brittney Lashmet, Jessica Schmidt, Ian Lochrie, Robin Foust, Shawn Farmer, and Brisa Escalera; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Evie Jordan; wife, Georgina; and siblings, Winnie, Floyd, Freddie, and Joel; grandson, Christian Farmer; and great-grandson, Benjamin Steven Jordan, Jr.
Graveside service will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton with Brian Weiss officiating. Family will be present for visitation from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday, December 12, 2025, at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton. Arrangements are in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 920 E. 11th St., Hugoton, KS 67951. Condolences may be posted at www.garnandfuneralhomes.com.
