Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hodge Funeral Home - Saint Maries on Mar. 2, 2026.
Barbara L. Bierman (70), a longtime and cherished resident of
St. Maries, Idaho, passed away peacefully at her home on February 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born on December 17, 1955, in
Lawton, Oklahoma, to Harold and Margie Bonds. She spent her early childhood in Oklahoma before her family relocated to St. Maries, where she completed her schooling and ultimately planted the roots that would hold her heart for the rest of her life.
Following high school, Barbara married the love of her life, Kieth Bierman. Together they began building the life they always dreamed of, welcoming their first son, Kenneth, and establishing their home in St. Maries. A few years later, adventure called and the family moved to Alaska, and then to Seattle, Washington, where their son Jason was born. Eventually, they returned to the town that always felt like home.
Over the years, Barbara worked a variety of jobs, each one marked by her strong work ethic and warm personality. She cooked and bartended at Chapalas Mexican Restaurant and later bartended at several St. Maries favorites, including the Lucky Duck, the Sasquatch, and the Elks. Barbara had a way of making everyone feel welcome - whether across a bar counter or around her kitchen table.
One of Barbara's proudest accomplishments in life was her sobriety. In 1988, she made the courageous decision to become sober, and she remained so for 37 years - a testament to her strength, determination, and unwavering commitment to living fully for her family.
Barbara later worked at Valley Vista Care Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant and as part of the bath team - a role she truly loved. Caring for others came naturally to her, and it showed in the compassion she extended to residents and coworkers alike.
When she left Valley Vista, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to helping raise her beloved granddaughters, Annie and Lexi. She was strict when she needed to be, but she spoiled them just the same. Though their walk home from school was only a few minutes up Cd'A Avenue, she would drive to the bottom of the hill so they wouldn't have to make the climb. She baked with them, braided their hair, and made ordinary days feel special. As her family grew to include more grandchildren - and eventually great-grandchildren - her heart simply grew bigger.
Barbara rarely missed a game, proudly cheering on her children and grandchildren in basketball, baseball, and softball. She loved fishing, tinkering on cars, gardening vegetables and flowers, and watching college softball - especially her beloved Oklahoma Sooners (Boomer Sooner!). She enjoyed her chocolate cereal and simple comforts at home.
Family gatherings were among her greatest joys - Christmas Eve at Juanita's, Fourth of July at Uncle Bob's, and visits with the Bierman family in Lewiston. She was also blessed with a wonderful daughter-in-law, Rebecca, and treasured their 4-wheeler rides and shopping trips together.
Above all else, Barbara dedicated her life to her family. They were her purpose, her pride, and her greatest joy. Barbara's legacy is one of resilience, laughter, faithfulness, and fierce love - a love that will continue to guide her family for generations to come.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Kieth, at their home in St. Maries; her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Rebecca Bierman of St. Maries; sisters Juanita Jack of St. Maries and Donna Downing of Spokane, Washington; brother and sister in-law Harold "Junior" (Emmy) Bonds of Medimont, Idaho; grandchildren Anny, Lexi, Peyton, Jewels, and Beau; great-grandchildren Emilio Angel and Vera Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sheila Bonds, and her son Kenneth Bierman.
A memorial service will be scheduled closer to summer. Family and friends are invited to visit her online tribute and share condolences at hodgefuneralhome.com.
