Barbara Brookover Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ingram Funeral Home - Marysville on Mar. 16, 2023.
Barbara D. Brookover, 77, of Marysville, formerly of Marion and Naples, Florida, passed away Sunday morning, March 12, 2023, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after an unexpected illness.
Barbara was born May 16, 1945, in Corbin, Kentucky, to the late Rondal D. and Dora E. (Carpenter) Barton. From the get-go, Barbara was an extremely social person and just simply loved people. She worked at Marion General Hospital and Crown Tower where everyone who knew her, loved her. She also enjoyed going to buyer's shows all over the United States. Once she and her husband, Roger, moved to Naples, she made many lifelong friendships with people who easily became part of her family. While in Florida, she worked as a security guard at the Imperial Golf Estates and earned the nickname, "Captain Barb." She absolutely loved that job as it created more friendships in her life, and she even met some famous people.
While Barb loved most everyone she ever met, her greatest love was her family. Nothing mattered more to her than being a wife, mom, grandma and great grandma, and her entire family called her "Grandma D." Her great grandkids treasured their trips to her apartment filled with their favorite coloring books, a big blue bowl full of mints and candies, and her wooden turtle that they named "Franklin." The oldest great grandkids would laugh at the amount of word search books they would find all over her place, and the youngest ones loved to ride on her rolling cart. Her children and her grandchildren hold many lasting memories of their trips to Florida visiting Grandma D., going boating together and laughing and loving and enjoying their time with her. Everyone will remember her Christmas morning gifts wrapped in black trash bags. They will miss her very much.
She is survived by her daughter Traci (Tim) Askew of Irwin; her son Todd (Renay) Brookover of Arizona and his family; her daughter Kim (Kress) Warrick and her family; grandchildren Travis (Katie) Askew and Tara (Adam) Young; great grandchildren Marlie Askew, Lumen Young, Logan Young, Cayden Askew and Bennett Askew.
Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roger A. Brookover, with whom she shared many loving years with. Her sisters Joan F. Barton & Rhonda G. (Barton) Douglas.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, March 25th, 2023, from 1-3 pm at the Ingram Funeral Home, Marysville. Ingram Funeral Home is honored to serve Barb's family, and condolences may be expressed to them at www.IngramFuneralService.com.
