Barbara C. Carroll, 90, of Medina, NY went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Born February 25, 1935, in the Town of Ridgeway, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Hazel (King) Hartwick. Barbara was raised in Lyndonville and was a graduate of Lyndonville High School. On October 1, 1960, she married her beloved husband of 45 years, Albert Carroll. The couple went on to have two children, who felt blessed to have the “Best Mother”.
In her younger years, Barbara worked for G.C. Murphy Co. in Medina before becoming a stay-at-home mother. As her children grew, she re-entered the workforce as an inspector for the Newell Shirt Factory. Barbara was a 4-H leader and loved going to county fairs, as far as they could drive. Barbara also loved to camp and fish in the St. Lawrence River. She was also passionate about music. In addition to playing the guitar and the organ, Barbara loved to sing, most memorably with Ramblin’ Lou.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert in 2005; her grandson, Eric Charache; son-in-law, John Vader; and brother, Kenneth Hartwick.
Barbara is survived by her 2 children, Patricia Vader and John (Barbara) Carroll; grandchildren, Michael Armagost (Coty Hallows), Jason Armagost (Sam Korber), John (Mary Ellen) Vader, Jr. and Kimberly (Randy)Taylor; granddaughter-in-law, Misti Charache; great-grandchildren, Madison, Michael Jr., Makynlee, Richy, Adrianna, Eric Jr., Aubree, Maverick, Jill, Griffin, Mia and Zara; and great-great-grandchildren, Silas and Koa.
An hour of calling will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31 from 11AM-12PM at The Vine Church, 11031 Maple Ridge Rd, Medina. Barbara’s funeral service will be held immediately following the hour of calling at 12PM. Interment will be in the spring in Millville Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Barbara’s name can be made to PAWS Animal Shelter, 3371 Gaines Basin Rd, Albion, NY 14411 or to The Vine Church at the address above.
