Barbara Lucile Cerney

Barbara Lucile Cerney, 86, of El Dorado, KS, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025 in Wichita, KS. Visitation 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Headley Funeral Chapel. Service 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2026, at Central Baptist Church, Augusta, KS. A private interment will take place at a later date at Sunset Lawns Cemetery El Dorado, KS. Barbara was born in Wichita, KS on February 21, 1939, to the late Lucile (Bird) and John Willis Bachtel. She graduated from Augusta High School with the class of 1957. On June 1, 1959 she married Dean Cerney. Barbara was a cashier at Wal Mart for many years. Faith was an important part of Barbara's life and she was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church serving wherever she could. Following the death of her husband, Dean, Barbara enjoyed traveling with friends on several trips to Europe and the Holy Lands. She enjoyed spending time with friends at the Augusta Senior Center as well. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, and brother, John Bachtel. She is survived by: daughter, Linda Case; son, Robert Cerney and wife Angela; sister, Betty Beach and husband Gary; grandchildren, Erin Sanger (Bryan), Kendall Cerney (Anita), Samhain Cerney, and Seth Cerney; great grandchildren, Payton, Rylee, James, and Eamon Sanger; Quinley and Bailey Cerney.
