Doris Jean Ahrens

Doris Jean Ahrens, 86, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026.

She was born on November 8, 1939, to Howard Raymond Sipe and Opal Elizabeth Dodson. Doris grew up with a strong sense of family and dedication that would guide her throughout her life.

Doris graduated from El Dorado High School with the class of '57. She then began her career as a clerk typist at the Butler County Courthouse and later worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation. It was there that she met the love of her life, Donald Wayne Ahrens. The two were united in marriage on March 17, 1962, and shared many cherished years together until his passing on April 5, 1994.

Doris devoted her life to caring for her family and creating a warm and loving home. She was a dedicated mother to her two sons, Donald and Daniel Ahrens, and took great pride in raising them. Her nurturing spirit and steady presence were the foundation of her family.

In her free time, Doris found joy in gardening. She especially loved tending to her rosebushes and flowerbeds, where she spent many peaceful hours cultivating beauty and enjoying nature. In addition to her gardening, over the years Doris loved caring for her pets.

Doris will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind her sons, Daniel Ahrens, of El Dorado, and Donald Ahrens (and his wife Ana) of Bel Aire, her grandson, Zeb Ahrens (and his wife Miranda) of El Dorado.

She was preceded in passing by her husband, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that any donations be made to Lakepoint Nursing Home or to Interim Hospice.

Visitation will take place at Carlson Funeral Home from 5-7 pm on Friday, March 27th.

A graveside service will take place at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 28th, at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado.
