Barbara Lou Chancey, age 78, of Tuscaloosa, AL, passed away on November 5, 2025 at Hospice of West Alabama. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Bro. Ron Martin officiating.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Earle Bareford; mother, Kathleen May Richardson Bareford; and sister, Pamela Dee Bareford Henry.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Chancey Jr. of Tuscaloosa, AL; daughter, Holley Lane George of Saraland, AL; sons, Chad Blake Chancey of Tuscaloosa, AL and Heath Robert Chancey (Leah) of Hoover, AL; sister, Roberta Irene Bareford Cemcini of Tucson, AZ; brothers, Donald Earle Bareford of Norwalk, CA, Dake Edward Bareford of Mission Viejo, CA; Douglas Robert Bareford of Cottonwood, TX, and David Mark Bareford of White Oak, TX; grandchildren, Gracyn Elizabeth Gilmore of Saraland, AL, Gavin Douglas Gilmore of Saraland, AL, Justin Blake Chancey (Ashley) of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Nicholas O'Brien Chancey of Tampa, FL; and great-grandchildren, Lexa Marie Chancey of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Baylor Brian Chancey of Tuscaloosa, AL.
Barbara had a beautiful flair for the arts, especially painting, and carried a natural gift for creativity. She walked faithfully with the Lord and lived a life that reflected his love and grace. A nurturing and loving wife, mother, and Nana, Barbara was devoted to her family. As a homemaker and provider, she served with humility and selflessness, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, strength, and faith.
Honorary pallbearers are Amedisys Home Health, Hospice of West Alabama, Pastor Ron Martin, Dr. Courtney Jackson, and all staff of the Trauma Surgical ICU at DCH Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
