Rochelle Perkins, 80, of Tuscaloosa, passed away on November 03, 2025, at Northport DCH Hospital. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, November 10, 2025, from Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Born in Memphis, Tennessee as Linda Marie Silverson, on March 23, 1945, to Maurice Silverson and Pearl Schuman- Silverson. She grew up developing a passion for music and especially horseback riding from a young age. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona with her family to complete high school at Camelback high school. She played flute in high school and much later took time to learn how to play the fiddle. Shortly after graduating high school, she met Paul Levno and they were married in 1964 having her son Joseph in 1967 and her daughter Stacey in 1969. She adopted her daughter Jackie in 1984. In her later years, she met the love of her life Joe Perkins, and they were married in 2008. She received her BA in Criminal Justice in 1976 from ASU in Tempe AZ and her MA in Family and Children's therapy in 1986 from NAU Flagstaff, AZ.
She spent her life and career as a caretaker of developmentally disabled children, at risk children and the elderly. In addition, she actively brought in animals and pets in need. Her approach to both, people and spirituality was perpetually curious and open. She befriended people from a wide range of cultural and spiritual backgrounds and explored a number of spiritual approaches after being raised Jewish. In her later years, she found connection and community in a local Methodist Church, Porter Saint Paul CME.
Mrs. Perkins was preceded in death by her father Maurice Silverson and her mother Pearl Schuman- Silverson. She is survived by her husband Joe Perkins, son Joseph Levno, daughters Stacey Levno and Jackie Norris as well as her sister Jan Rowberry.
