Ina Jean Perkins was born on Wednesday, October 5, 1955, in Hamlin, Texas to Joe Kerns and Wanda Joyce Kerns and passed from this life on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the age of 70. Ina never enjoyed the use of her legal name and went by Jeannie which was a great tribute to her frivolous and adventurous nature. She adored spending time with her family at amusement parks, water parks, and on a hot summer day at the beach. To pass time she would watch movies, play games, and do crossword puzzles.
Jeannie was known for her enthusiastic love of Halloween; it was her favorite time of the year, and she especially enjoyed dressing up as a witch. She loved country music. You couldn’t ever catch her without a radio nearby or in hand. She had a generous heart and willingness to help anyone in need.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Kerns and Wanda Joyce Kerns; grandmother, Ella Lee Floyd; sisters, Becky Kerns and Martha Branch; brother, Chester Branch; and son-in-law, Kevin Scoggins.
Survivors include her children, Bonita Scoggins and Keith Scoggins; grandchildren, Dillon Scoggins, Heather Scoggins, Timothy Scoggins, and Jasmine Scoggins; siblings, Brenda Robinson and Floyd Branch; and a numerous amount of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.
The Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Boulevard, Fort Worth, Texas 76114.
