Barbara Chegwidden, 93, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024 at NHC Osage Beach Rehab Center in Osage Beach, Missouri.
Barbara was born November 14, 1930 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada as the only child of Walter and Agnes Wright. She grew up in Kirkland Lake until moving to Montreal, Quebec, to pursue her nursing degree at McGill University, graduating in 1952.
She met Geoffrey Chegwidden, an emigrant of England, in 1957 in Montreal. Together, they emigrated to the United States and were married in Asbury Park, New Jersey on August 6, 1960. In their 54 years of marriage, Georffrey and Barbara called many states their home, but eventually settled in Osage Beach in 1995. Barbara was a member of the Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church.
Survivors include her three daughters: Alexandra Vail (Kenneth) of Pittsburg, KS, Victoria Dority (Matthew) of Kansas City, MO, and Andrea Satterlee (Randy) of Osage Beach, MO; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Vivien Otterstrom of Brussels, Belgium.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband in 2015 and her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church, 394 Duckhead Road, Lake Ozark, MO 65049.
