Barbara Ellen Chiesa, née Buschbacher, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on March 11, 2026, in Warren, Michigan. Born on December 1, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, Barbara lived a life rich with devotion to family and a passion for life's simpler joys.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Michael Buschbacher, who remembers her as a steadfast presence throughout their lives. Her sons, John Sherman and Michael Sherman, along with her daughters-in-law, continue to uphold the strong family bonds she nurtured. Barbara’s family extended warmly to her stepdaughters, Bobbi Young and Brenda Powell, who held her in great affection and respect. Her legacy also flourished through her grandchildren—Sara Chiesa, Stephanie McCabe, Rachel Lents, Nicholas Jaworski, and Sabrina Jaworski—who carry forward the values and warmth she instilled in them. She was an adoring great-grandmother to Michael Ralph McCabe, a role she treasured deeply.
Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ralph Chiesa, whose partnership had been a cornerstone of her life. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Adam and Aurelia Buschbacher, her brother John Buschbacher, and stepdaughter Robbi Chiesa, all of whom she fondly remembered and honored throughout her life.
An avid reader and enthusiastic poker player, Barbara found joy and relaxation in the pages of books and in friendly games that brought family and friends together. Her intellectual curiosity and love for games extended beyond mere pastime, reflecting her vibrant and engaging spirit.
Throughout her life, Barbara Ellen Chiesa was known for her unwavering kindness, her gentle strength, and her deep commitment to those she loved. Her memory will continue to inspire and uplift all who were blessed to know her. In her passing, her family and friends mourn the loss of a remarkable woman whose life exemplified grace, integrity, and love.
