Ms. Barbara A. Conklin, affectionately known as "Barbie," passed away on February 11, 2026, at Foltsbrook in Herkimer, New York, at the age of 75.
Born on January 26, 1951, in Mineola, New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Wurm) Conklin. She graduated from Dix Hills High School. She spent many years as a bookkeeper at J.L Hammett in Lyons, New York.
Barbara found joy in simple pleasures; her spare time was often spent engrossed in adult coloring books and exploring thrift shops for hidden treasures. These hobbies brought her great satisfaction and reflected her creative spirit. She loved nature and enjoyed being surrounded by such. Barbara had a strong faith; she attended many churches in the area. Barb will always be remembered for her sweet smile and great sense of humor.
She was predeceased by her father, Charles, her mother, Dorothy, her sister, Donna and brother in laws Steve Shoeny. She is survived by her siblings, Susan Shoeny, Ellen and Paul DeLucia, Roger Conklin, Betilu and John Conklin. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many friends A special mention of long-time friend, Debby DeRooy, a true friend of hers for nearly thirty years.
Barb will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In keeping with her wishes, a memorial service will be held at a date to be announced in the spring, followed by interment in West Schuyler Cemetery with her family. A celebration of life will also take place at a later date in Rochester, NY.
