Barbara A. Corey

Barbara A. Corey passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10th at Riverview Medical Center.
Born and raised in Staten Island, NY, Barbara made the Belford section of Middletown Township her home in 1961. A devoted homemaker, she lovingly raised her family near the Campbell's Junction area. She was the beloved wife of Ronald Corey for 53 years, the cherished mother of seven children, and a proud grandmother of twelve grandchildren and great grandmother of two. Barbara graduated from St. Peter's High School in Staten Island and Southern Seminary Junior College in Buena Vista, VA.
For 64 years, Barbara was a faithful parishioner and daily communicant at Mary Mother of God Roman Catholic Church. She sang in the choir and was a committed Eucharistic adorer. Her love of music also found expression in the Harmony Celebrations Chorus of Sweet Adelines International. She enjoyed gathering with friends, dancing, days at the beach, and bowling.
Barbara was a dedicated supporter of MYAA Little League baseball and softball, an active scouting mom, and a tireless advocate for her children's teenage jobs and activities-long before the term "soccer mom" existed. She logged hundreds of thousands of miles in her 1963 Plymouth Valiant wagon, always placing her family first.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald E. Corey; her parents, Joe and Sally Heap; her brothers, Richard and Bill; and many beloved extended family members and friends.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Hespe (Richard) and Kathleen Faaland (Ken); and her sons-Michael (Edward Tighe), Vincent (predeceased by his beloved wife Jeanne), Ronald Jr. (Lillian), Stephen (Michelle), and Christopher (Jeannine). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Christopher (Jennifer), Kathryn, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Daniel, Patrick (Katherine), Tim (Victoria), Sarah, Kyle, Matthew, Cameron, and Colin; and her great grandchildren, Eileen and Campbell Hespe. She leaves behind her dear brother Donald (Margaret) and sister in law, Rita Heap.
Barbara's life was defined by faith, devotion, music, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in all who were blessed to know her.
Our thanks to Brighton Gardens of Middletown for their care of Barbara over the last several years. The family is also grateful to the compassionate staff of the Critical Care Unit at Riverview Medical Center, and Hackensack Meridian Hospice.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 4-7 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home 115 Tindall Rd., Middletown. A funeral Mass will be offered Thursday, January 15 at 10 am at Mary, Mother of God RC Church, Middletown. Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
